Background:

• Brassinosteroids are a phytosteroid that demonstrate plant growth regulatory activity.
• They are believed able to promote and accelerate plant growth and increase crop yield, fresh weight, dry weight of seeds, root size, and resistance to lodging.
• Brassinosteroids promote cell division and elongation, swelling, curvature, and splitting of the treated internode.
• Exogenous treatments can encourage shoot and new shoot growth, encourage root senescence (resources rerouted from root to shoot), and lengthen leaves and stems.
